Tissue augmentation technique has been discussed for many years. The sufficiency of hard and soft tissue at the implant sites is the guarantee of long-term function, health and aesthetic effect for implant restoration. In this report, we will introduce a modified technique called "Hood Technique", in which the reactive soft tissue in compromised sockets is used for primary wound closure during immediate implant placement and site preservation. Clinical studies have shown acceptable results of bone formation and keratinized mucosa augmentation during immediate implantation in posterior compromised sockets of different types. In vitro study indicated that the osteogenic capacity of granulation tissue was associated with regulation of immune microenvironment. This simplified surgical technique may be a viable alternative for tissue augmentation with less surgical trauma and fewer clinical procedure, which may benefit the patients.
